No restriction on manures other than existing “Farming Rules for Water”. We have studied the guidelines to design mixes that are fully compliant yet maximise forage production. The legumes need to be 30% of the sward to start to replace artificial nitrogen fertilisers.

Description

Herbal leys or ‘species rich’ mixtures are becoming more popular as growers look to reduce the cost of bought in Nitrogen fertilisers and high protein feeds. They are far more management intensive and do require a change in mindset away from the easily managed perennial ryegrass swards that currently dominate our industry. Key benefits include:
